Ways to Share the Light

November has always felt like an open door. It invites us to come together, to pass warmth around, and to notice the small ways light moves through a community.
After introducing Share the Light, I wanted to share something simpler, gentle ways to offer light freely. The kind of gestures that build connection one quiet spark at a time.
Simple Ways to Share Light
1. Leave a note of warmth. A kind word can brighten a whole day. Slip a short message into someone’s mailbox, bag, or book — just a reminder that they matter.
2. Share what’s simmering. Make an extra pot of soup and divide it into jars for friends or neighbors. Add a little tag with the recipe, or invite them over to share a bowl.
3. Start a light tradition. Invite friends to light their candles at the same time each week. Even apart, the glow connects you. They don't have to be mine, though I highly recommend it.... lol!
4. Pass along a playlist. Remember mixed tapes? They were such a kind way to say, I'm thinking about you. Music holds warmth too. Send someone a song or a link to a seasonal playlist (mine’s always on Spotify).
5. Offer what you have. Sometimes sharing light is as simple as sharing what’s nearby — a book you loved, a cutting from a plant, a quiet moment on the porch, coffee and a walk in the park.
6. Remember together. As the days grow shorter, light a candle in memory of someone who brought warmth into your life. Small rituals like this keep love close.
Light doesn’t need to cost anything to be given. Each spark — a word, a meal, a small kindness — becomes part of something larger. And when we share it, we make the season brighter for everyone.
